INFLUENCE OF SHEAR ON ROTATION CAPACITY OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS

TESTS TO INVESTIGATE THE INFLUENCE OF SHEAR ON ROTATION CAPACITY ARE DESCRIBED. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE FINAL FAILURE AT HINGE REGIONS UNDER LARGE SHEAR FORCES IS DOMINANTLY A SHEAR-TYPE FAILURE. THE ROTATION CAPACITY IS ONLY MARGINALLY REDUCED IF THE SHEAR FORCE IS DESIGNED FOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROPOSALS GIVEN IN THE DRAFT BRITISH CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE STRUCTURAL USE OF CONCRETE. /TRRL/A/
