DESIGN OF BOX GIRDERS

THE METHODS OF DESIGN SET OUT IN THIS NOTE APPLY TO BOX GIRDERS IN BOTH STEEL AND CONCRETE. THE ONLY ESSENTIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO IS IN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE VARIOUS DIRECT AND SECONDARY STRESSES INVOLVED. THE NOTE ALSO CONTAINS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR ANALYZING THE BEHAVIOR OF SIMPLY SUPPORTED BOX OR FOLDED PLATE STRUCTURES WITH END DIAPHRAGMS. /TRRL/
