HORIZONTALLY CURVED HIGHWAY BRIDGES, SECOND ANNUAL REPORT (CURT REPORT NO A0271) OCT 1, 1970-SEPT 30, 1971

THE PROGRESS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTER PROGRAMS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF CURVED GIRDER BRIDGES IS DESCRIBED. STACRB IS A STATIC ANALYSIS SOLUTION AND DYNCRB IS A DYNAMIC ANALYSIS PROGRAM. BOTH PROGRAMS UTILIZE THE STIFFNESS METHOD OF ANALYSIS WITH FINITE ELEMENTS. THE TYPES OF FINITE ELEMENTS USED ARE DISCUSSED AND SIMPLE EXAMPLES ARE SHOWN. RESULTS OF EXPERIMENTAL LABORATORY STUDIES TO DETERMINE TORSIONAL PROPERTIES OF TYPICAL STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS ARE REPORTED. /FHWA/
