Sustainable Infrastructure. Environment Friendly, Safe and Resource Efficient. IABSE Symposium Bangkok 2009

In recent years, investments in and the construction of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, railways, airports, seaports, power systems, and water and sewerage have contributed significantly to the sustainable development of southeast Asia. A sustainable infrastructure must meet current needs and still be aware of the possible environmental, social and economic impact on future generations. This conference addresses current requirements and future needs which promote environmental quality, resource efficiency, economic vitality and public safety through design by adopting more reusable materials and less energy intensive construction methods. Conference topics include: standards for sustainability, service life of structures, disaster prevention and mitigation, innovative materials and design, structure monitoring, maintenance and repair.
