POLYETHELENE FOAM COATS CONCRETE FORMS

HIGH-DENSITY PE FOAM HAS JOINED REINFORCED POLYESTER IN THE FIELD OF CONCRETE FORMS. MITSUI PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD. OF TOKYO HAS JUST BROUGHT OUT NEW FORMS CONSISTING OF GALVANIZED STEEL, COATED WITH LOW- FOAMED HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE. THE FORM WILL COME ONLY IN ONE RECTANGULAR SHAPE MEASURING APPROXIMATELY 2 BY 6 FT. AND 1/2 IN. THICK. EACH PANEL WEIGHS SLIGHTLY LESS THAN 22 LB. ACCORDING TO MITSUI, PE WAS CHOSEN FOR ITS DURABILITY IN HARSH CONDITIONS AND ITS HIGH RESISTANCE TO SHOCK. OTHER FEATURES OF THE FORMS INCLUDE EASY REMOVAL FROM CONCRETE, LOW MAINTENANCE WHILE IN STORAGE, SIMPLE HANDLING FOR TRANSPORT, AND PRODUCTION OF AN ATTRACTIVE SURFACE ON CONCRETE WITHOUT BASE TREATMENT BY MORTAR. THE PANELS CAN BE NAILED OR DRILLED LIKE PLYWOOD. THE DESIGNATED POLYPANEL WILL BE PRODUCED IN A NEW PLANT WITH AN OUTPUT OF 900,000 SQ. YD./YR. /MP/
