USE OF AIR-ENTRAINING CONCRETE IN PAVEMENTS AND BRIDGES

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF AIR-ENTRAINED CONCRETE ARE DISCUSSED WITH REFERENCE TO DURABILITY, MODULUS OF ELASTICITY, VOLUME CHANGES, BOND, RESISTANCE TO WEAR AND ABRASION, ETC.. THE MATERIALS CONSIDERED ARE AIR-ENTRAINING PORTLAND CEMENT, AIR ENTRAINING ADMIXTURES, NATURAL CEMENTS, FINELY DIVIDED MATERIALS, AND AGGREGATES. THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING AN AIR-ENTRAINING CEMENT OR AN AIR-ENTRAINING ADMIXTURE FOR THE CONCRETE ARE DISCUSSED.
