USE OF ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROPHOTOMETER FOR ANALYSIS OF CEMENT

THIS INVESTIGATION INDICATED THAT THE ATOMIC ABSORPTION METHOD PROVIDES RAPID AND RELIABLE DETERMINATIONS FOR ALUMINUM, IRON, MAGNESIUM, SODIUM, POTASSIUM, AND MANGANESE OXIDES IN CEMENT. THE DETERMINATIONS OF CALCIUM AND SILICON OXIDES WERE LESS SATISFACTORY. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE PROCEDURES DESCRIBED IN THIS INVESTIGATION BE USED AS OPTIONAL PROCEDURES FOR ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF TYPES I AND III CEMENTS. A PROPOSED METHOD OF ANALYSIS IS INCLUDED. /AUTHOR/
