A GRAPHICAL TECHNIQUE FOR DETERMINING THE ELASTIC MODULI OF A TWO-LAYERED STRUCTURE FROM MEASURED SURFACE DEFLECTIONS

A THEORETICALLY DERIVED CHART HAS BEEN DEVELOPED BY MEANS OF WHICH THE ELASTIC MODULUS OF EACH LAYER OF A TWO-LAYER ELASTIC STRUCTURE CAN BE EVALUATED. THE REQUIRED INPUT DATA COMPRISES TWO OR MORE SURFACE DEFLECTIONS OBSERVED AT DIFFERENT KNOWN DISTANCES FROM A KNOWN VERTICAL LOAD, TOGETHER WITH KNOWLEDGE OR AN ESTIMATE OF THE THICKNESS OF THE UPPER LAYER.
