Resumen en ingles: In its drive to improve and increase safety on the regional road network, since the end of the 1980s the Castile-Leon Regional Council has built over 90 sections (totalling some 1500 km) of pavement with a thick soil-cement base. Through an agreement with the CEDEX public road laboratory condition surveying has been carried out on 32 sections (520 km) for performance rating. The visual inspection campaigns are reporting performance results for the soil-cement pavements that are well in keeping with the aims pursued, involving scant structural deterioration, very slight transverse cracking and a high standard of wearing course comfort. In addition, a total of 131 cores have been extracted and analysed for thickness, adhesion, density and material parameters from which compression and sheer strength and moduli rates have been obtained.
