PUENTE LEVADIZO EN EL PUERTO DE VALENCIA

BASCULE BRIDGE IN THE PORT OF VALENCIA

Con objeto de desviar el trafico ferroviario e incorporar para la ciudad los espacios portuarios que rodean la darsena interior del Puerto de Valencia, se construye un puente levadizo entre los muelles transversales de Levante y Poniente. El puente, de tipo basculante, consta de dos hojas moviles, cada una de ellas tiene una longitud total de 62,50 m, de los que 49,0 m corresponden al tramo en voladizo desde la clave hasta la rotula de giro y 13,50 m al tramo dorsal de compensacion bajo el que se situan los contrapesos, de forma que el centro de gravedad de la estructura se situe en el eje de giro. Dado que la rasante del puente esta muy proxima al nivel del mas, se han dispuesto fosos profundos para acomodar los vanos de contrapeso de ambas hojas del puente. Se comentan todos los aspectos relevantes del proyecto y construccion del puente y sus mecanismos. (A). Resumen en ingles: In order to divert railway traffic and, this way, to liberate part of the harbor space, the inner basin, to be freed for the use of the city of Valencia, it was built a bascule bridge between the eastern and western jetties of the inner basis of the harbor. This bascule bridge deck is formed by two mobile leaves 62,50 m long each one, 49,0 m being beyond the hinges and toward the midspan, and 13,50 m corresponding to the back span, where the counterweights are located to position the mass center of the structure over the supporting hinges. Given that the vertical alignment of the bridge is very close to the sea level, it has been necessary to built two deep pits to acconmodate the counterweigt back spans of both deck leaves. All relevant aspects regarding design and construction of this bridge are reviewed. (A).
