INFLUENCE OF THE THICKNESS OF THE WEARING COURSE ON CORRESPONDING HORIZONTAL RADIAL STRESSES

A STUDY IS MADE OF THE VARIATION IN THE HORIZONTAL RADIAL STRESSES AT THE BASE OF WEARING COURSES IN THREE-LAYER SYSTEMS, AS A FUNCTION OF THE THICKNESS OF THE WEARING COURSE ITSELF, IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH RELATIONS BETWEEN THE ELASTIC MODULI OF THE LAYERS AND THICKNESSES OF THE INTERMEDIATE LAYER, RERESENTATIVE OF THE CONDITIONS GENERALLY FOUND IN MAIN ROADS IN PORTUGAL. THE NUMBER OF ELASTICITY MODULI CONSIDERED WAS 14, AND THE NUMBER OF THICKNESSES OF THE INTERMEDIATE LAYER WAS 4. /TRRL/
