COMPUTER PROGRAMMES FOR CIRCLE AND STRIP LOADS ON LAYERED ANISTROPIC MEDIA

THIS REPORT CONTAINS DESCRIPTIONS AND LISTINGS OF FIVE COMPUTER PROGRAMS WHICH CALCULATE ALL COMPONENTS OF STRESS, STRAIN AND DISPLACEMENT IN EITHER AN ELASTIC HALF-SPECE OR A SYSTEM OF HORIZONTAL ELASTIC LAYERS. THE LOADING ON THE UPPER SURFACE OF THE ELASTIC SYSTEM IS EITHER APPLIED TO AN INFINITE STRIP, GIVING RISE TO PLANE STRAIN CONDITIONS, OR TO A CIRCULAR AREA. A WIDE RANGE OF DIFFERENT LOADS HAS BEEN CONSIDERED, AND THE PROPERTIES OF THE ELASTIC LAYERS CAN BE EITHER ISOTROPIC, CROSS-ANISOTROPIC OR IN PLANE STRAIN CASES, ORTHORHOMBIC. THESE PROGRAMS HAVE PRACTICAL APPLICA- TION IN THE SOIL AND ROCK ENGINEERING STUDY OF WHEEL LOADS ON ROAD PAVEMENTS AND THE DESIGN OF FOUNDATIONS. /AUTHOR/
