CHARACTERIZATION OF ASPHALT CONCRETE AND CEMENT-TREATED GRANULAR BASE COURSE

THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE WHETHER ELASTICITY AND VISCOELASTICITY CAN BE USED TO CHARACTERIZE ASPHALT CONCRETE AND CEMENT-TREATED BASE COURSE IN THE STRUCTURAL DESIGN OF PAVEMENTS. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE AVAILABLE METHODS OF STRUCTURAL DESIGN THEY CAN, PROVIDED APPROXIMATE PROCEDURES ARE EMPLOYED, INCLUDE VARIOUS RESPONSE CHARACTERISTICS NOT MODELLED BY THE CHOSEN CONSTITUTIVE LAW. /AUTHOR/
