APPARATUS FOR MEASURING CREEP OF CONCRETE AT HIGH TEMPERATURES

A COMPRESSION TEST DEVICE FOR CONDUCTING CREEP TESTS ON 2 X 4-INCH CONCRETE CYLINDERS AT TEMPERATURES AS HIGH AS 1600 F IS DESCRIBED. AUXILIARY CONTROL EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. DATA FROM A PRELIMINARY PROGRAM OF CREEP AND RELAXATION TESTS AT TEMPERATURES UP TO 1200 F ARE GIVEN. THE DATA GIVEN ARE PART OF A BROAD STUDY NOW UNDER WAY IN WHICH ADDITIONAL VARIABLES SUCH AS CONCRETE QUALITY, AGGREGATE TYPE, LOAD INTENSITY, TEMPERATURE LEVEL AND DURATION OF TEST ARE BEING INVESTIGATED. /AUTHOR/
