THIS PAPER DESCRIBES AN INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF CERTAIN VARIABLES ON THE INDICATED TENSILE STRENGTH OF STRUCTURAL LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE CONCRETE AS DETERMINED BY THE SPLITTING TENSION TEST. THE VARIABLES TREATED ARE LOADING RATE, LOADING STRIPS, MOLD TYPE, CURING CONDITIONS, IMPROPER LOAD DISTRIBUTION, AND IMPROPERLY MADE CYLINDERS.
