DETERMINATION OF THE INITIAL STRENGTH OF CONCRETE WITH THE SCHMIDT TESTING HAMMER /IN DUTCH/

RESEARCH HAS BEEN DONE ON THE USE OF THE SCHMIDT CONCRETE TESTING HAMMER AS A MEASURING INSTRUMENT FOR DETERMINING THE INITIAL STRENGTH OF 24 HOUR-OLD CONCRETE. A SERIES OF TESTS WAS CARRIED OUT ON THREE CONCRETE 10X10X50 CM PRISMS. THE CORRELATION BETWEEN HAMMER VALUE AND COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH WAS DETERMINED, AND A NUMBER OF REGRESSION LINES CALCULATED, THE LATTER SERVED FOR DERIVING THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH FROM THE HAMMER VALUE. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT A PROPERLY ADJUSTED AND ADEQUATELY USED SCHMIDT CONCRETE TESTING HAMMER IS A RELIABLE TOOL FOR DETERMINING THE INITIAL STRENGTH OF CONCRETE. /RRL/SWOV/RWL/
