EFFECT OF FINENESS OF CEMENT ON THE AIR-ENTRAINING PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE

TESTS REPORTED USED ONE AIR-ENTRAINING AGENT (AIREN), AND CEMENT FROM ONE SOURCE GROUND TO A SPECIFIC FINESS. RESULTS SHOWED THAT FOR A GIVEN QUANTITY OF AIR-ENTRAINING AGENT, THE AMOUNT OF AIR ENTRAINED DECREASES WITH INCREASING SPECIFIC SURFACE. THERE IS AN INDICATION OF AN UPPER LIMIT TO THE QUANTITY OF AIR THAT CAN BE ENTRAINED IN A GIVEN MIX USING A CEMENT OF A GIVEN FINENESS. THE CEMENT SAMPLES USED WERE SPECIALLY PRODUCED AND ARE NOT COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE, SO THAT QUANTITATIVE COMPARISONS WITH COMMERCIAL CEMENTS CAN ONLY BE MADE ON THE BASIS OF TESTS. /RRL/
