STRUCTURAL CONCRETE MADE WITH LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE

SINCE 1957, THE BUILDING RESEARCH STATION HAS BEEN INVESTIGATING THE PROPERTIES OF A RESTRICTED RANGE OF REINFORCED LIGHTWEIGHT-AGGREGATE CONCRETES. IN 1960, WORK WAS ALSO COMMENCED ON A PROGRAMME TO INVESTIGATE THE PROPERTIES OF A WIDER RANGE OF CONCRETES, AND THIS WAS LATER EXTENDED TO RICHER AND TO SANDED MIXES. IN THIS PAPER, THE RESULTS OF THE THREE MAIN PROGRAMMES ARE CONSIDERED AND THE RESULTS OF SEVEN OTHER SERIES OF TESTS DEALING WITH SPECIFIC POINTS ARISING DURING THE INVESTIGATIONS ARE EXAMINED. /RRL/A/
