SOME PROBLEMS IN INELASTICITY OF CONCRETE AND ITS BEHAVIOR UNDER LOADING

THE ORIGIN OF PSEUDO-PLASTICITY OF CONCRETE IS EXPLAINED WITH REFERENCE TO MICRO-CRACKING. FACTORS DETERMINING THE SHAPE OF THE STRESS-STRAIN CURVE FOR CONCRETE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS CURVE IN ULTIMATE STRENGTH DESIGN ARE CONSIDERED. THE MAIN AREAS OF CURRENT INTEREST WITH REGARD TO THE BEHAVIOUR OF CONCRETE UNDER SUSTAINED LOADING ARE DISCUSSED. SPECIAL REFERENCE IS MADE TO STRENGTH AND CREEP. TOPICS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH ARE SUGGESTED. /RRL/
