CEMENT-TREATED BASE IN CALIFORNIA

THE DEVELOPMENT OF PORTLAND CEMENT USES IS TRACED FOR TREATMENT OF ROAD MATERIALS. CEMENT CONTENT WAS GRADUALLY REDUCED FROM 6-8% TO HALF THAT AMOUNT SINCE FEWER CRACKS OCCURRED OVER WEAKER BASES. PRESENT PRACTICE IS OUTLINED. A RECORD IS PRESENTED OF SOIL-CEMENT USED IN THE WEST SINCE 1940.
