REDI MIX DEVELOPS QUICK TEST

AN ACCELERATED TEST FOR CONCRETE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH IS BEING USED BY A CANADIAN READY-MIXED CONCRETE FIRM. CONCRETE CYLINDERS IN STEEL MOLDS ARE PLACED IN BOILING WATER 20 MINUTES AFTER THE CONCRETE HAS REACHED A PIN PULL-OUT BOND OF 12 PSI. AFTER 16 HOURS IN THE BOILING WATER, THE MOLDS ARE STRIPPED AND THE CYLINDERS ARE ALLOWED TO COOL FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE BEING CAPPED WITH A SULPHUR CAPPING COMPOUND. CYLINDERS ARE TESTED 30 MINUTES AFTER CAPPING. THE AVERAGE ERROR OF THE TEST IN ESTIMATING THE STANDARD 28-DAY STRENGTH OF CONCRETE IS UNDER FOUR PERCENT. /AUTHOR/
