THIS PAPER PRESENTS A REVIEW OF CURRENT PRACTICE IN HIGHWAY BARRIER DESIGN WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON CABLE BARRIERS AND A NRC EXPERIENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF VEHICLE-BARRIER DYNAMICS AND THE DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS TO VALIDATE THE MODEL.
