A METHOD FOR THE FLAME-PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF MAGNESIUM OXIDE IN LIME

MAGNESIUM OXIDE AND MOST OF THE OTHER IMPURITIES IN LIMESTONE OR BURNED LIME CAN BE QUITE SIMPLY DETERMINED BY FLAME PHOTOMETRY WITHOUT PRELIMINARY SEPARATION OF INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS. THE VALUES OBTAINED UNDERWENT SOME MODIFICATION WHEN THE CALCIUM OXIDE CONTENT OF THE SAMPLE UNDER INVESTIGATION WAS BELOW 40 PERCENT. A HIGHER CONTENT OF CALCIUM OXIDE ACTS AS A RADIATION BUFFER.
