PORTLAND CEMENT MORTAR AND CONCRETE

THE ADDITION OF 0.1 TO 1% BY WEIGHT OF CALCIUM TRIHYDROXY- AQUOZINCATE TO PORTLAND CEMENT MORTAR OR CONCRETE RESULTS IN PROLONGED SETTING TIME AND INCREASED STRENGTH. THE HYDROXY- ZINCATES ARE NOT CORROSIVE TOWARDS STEEL REINFORCEMENT AND THE TREATMENT IS SIMPLER AND LESS EXPENSIVE THAN ZINC BORATE ADDITION. THE CALCIUM ADDITIVE IS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR THE STRENGTHENING OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE. FINAL STRENGTH VALUES AFTER 25 TO 360 DAYS WERE FOUND TO BE 8 TO 17% HIGHER THAN THOSE OF UNTREATED CEMENTS. /AUTHOR/
