ESTIMATION OF CREEP OF CONCRETE IN R.C. AND P.C. DESIGN

A METHOD IS PRESENTED FOR ESTIMATING CONCRETE CREEP VALUES FOR USE IN REINFORCED AND PRESTRESSED CONCRETE DESIGN, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE VARIOUS FACTORS AFFECTING CREEP. THE METHOD IS INTENDED FOR ENGINEERS IN PRACTICE. TABLES ARE GIVEN FOR /1/ CREEP OF STANDARD MIXES, /2/ RELATION BETWEEN CREEP AND DURATION OF LOADING, /3/ MATURITY-EQUATION CONSTANTS, AND /4/ CALCULATION FOR CEMENT-PASTE CONTENTS. CURVES SHOW THE RELATION BETWEEN STRENGTH AND WATER/CEMENT RATIO FOR 7 DAYS, 28 DAYS, 3 MONTHS, AND 1 YEAR. THE EFFECT OF TYPE OF AGGREGATE /SANDSTONE, BASALT, GRAVEL, GRANITE, QUANTZ, AND LIMESTONE/ ON CREEP FOR VARIOUS DURATIONS OF LOADING IS GRAPHICALLY PRESENTED.
