Verkehrssicherheit und Verkehrsablauf an Fahrstreifenreduktionen / Traffic safety and traffic flow at lane-reductions

Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags stehen Reduktionen von drei auf zwei Fahrstreifen an Autobahnabschnitten ohne Baustelle. Die grosse Anzahl von Fahrstreifenwechseln in diesem Bereich mit einer Vielzahl von Brems- und Beschleunigungsmanoevern deutet auf eine Verringerung der Kapazitaet sowie auf einen Anstieg der Unfalldichte hin. Aus diesem Grund werden die Verkehrssicherheit und die Kapazitaet von Autobahnabschnitten mit Fahrstreifenreduktion detailliert analysiert und quantifiziert. Als Ergebnis kann festgehalten werden, dass Fahrstreifenreduktionen sowohl auf die Verkehrssicherheit als auch auf die Kapazitaet bezogen Problembereiche im Autobahnnetz darstellen, weswegen sie moeglichst zu vermeiden sind. Abschliessend werden Empfehlungen fuer die Lage und Ausfuehrung von Fahrstreifenreduktionen gegeben. ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: Reducing the lane numbers from three lanes to two lanes without construction site at motorways is the main point of this report. The large number of lane-changes in this area with many braking and acceleration manoeuvres indicates reduction in the capacity of the two-lanes carriegeway as well as an increase in the number of accidents. The main objectives of the study are to analyse and to quantify the traffic safety as well as the capacity of the motorway sections with lane-reduction. It can be concluded that the lane-reduction both with respect to the traffic safety and regarding the capacity produces different problems in the motorway networks and as well it must be avoided if possible. In addition, a forecast method of the length and duration of the traffic jams is developed. Finally recommendations for the situation and the design of the lane-reduction are presented. (A)
