CONTROL OF RAPID DRYING OF FRESH CONCRETE BY EVAPORATION CONTROL

RAPID DRYING ON THE EXPOSED SURFACE OF CONCRETE MAY RESULT IN FINISHING PROBLEMS SUCH AS STICKINESS, SPONGINESS, AND UNEVENNESS, PLASTIC SHRINKAGE AND CRACKING, OR A COMPACTED SURFACE WHICH CREATES A LAYERED STRUCTURE SUBJECT TO SCALING . THESE UNDESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS MAY BE CORRECTED BY CONTROL OF EVAPORATION WITH A MONOMOLECULAR FILM ON THE SURFACE OF BLEEDING WATER. LABORATORY TESTS AND FIELD EXPERIENCES ARE DISCUSSED. /AUTHOR/
