THE EFFECT OF SOME SOLUBLE INORGANIC ADMIXTURES ON THE EARLY HYDRATION OF PORTLAND CEMENT

THE EFFECTS OF THE SOLUBLE CHLORIDES, BROMIDES, NITRATES, SULPHATES AND ACETATES OF CALCIUM, MAGNESIUM, LITHIUM, SOKIUM AND ZINC AS WELL AS THE CORRESPONDING MINERAL ACIDS ON THE EARLY HYDRATION OF NEAT PORTLAND CEMENT PASTES HAVE BEEN STUDIED. BOTH THE CATIONS AND ANIONS ARE RANKED ACCORDING TO THEIR GENERAL EFFECTIVENESS AS ACCELERATORS OF THE HYDRATION OF THE CALCIUM SILICATE PHASE.
