POZZOLANAS OF HIGH INITIAL REACTIVITY - I THE REACTIVATION OF THE NATURAL POZZOLANA

A METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE REACTIVITY OF CERTAIN NATURAL POZZOLANAS BY MEANS OF ADEQUATE THERMAL TREATMENT IS DESCRIBED. THE FIRST CHAPTER DESCRIBES THE METHOD EMPLOYED TO CARRY OUT REACTIVATION AND ALSO GIVES AN EXPLANATION OF THE PHENOMENA. THE SECOND CHAPTER GIVES THE RESULTS OF THE DETERMINATION OF THE PROPERTIES OF NATURAL REACTIVATED POZZOLANA' INFLUENCE ON THE RUPTURE STRESSES OF CONCRETE, PERMEABILITY COEFFICIENT, HYDRATION HEAT AND RESISTANCE TO CHEMICAL ATTACKS. HYDRATION HEAT, AND RESISTANCE TO THE ACTION OF SULPHATES REMAINS PRACTICALLY THE SAME OR IS SLIGHTLY IMPROVED BY THE REACTICATION OF NATURAL POZZOLANA. THE USE OF SANTO ANTAOS REACTIVATED NATURAL POZZOLANA MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN ALL PURPOSE POZZOLANIC CEMENT OF BETTER QUALITY THAN PORTLAND CEMENT.
