CONCRETE ADDITIVES USED IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION /IN FRENCH/

THE MAIN TYPES OF CONCRETE ADMIXTURE USED IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION ARE REVIEWED AND CURRENT RESEARCH INTO THE PROTECTION OF CONCRETE AGAINST CLIMATIC CONDITIONS AND INTO THE MECHANIZATION OF CONSTRUCTION SITES ARE OUTLINED. CONCRETE USED IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION IS VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO DRYING DURING LAYING AND TO FROST AFTER HARDENING. THE PROTECTIVE EFFECT OF CURING PRODUCTS ON FRESH CONCRETE IS DESCRIBED TOGETHER WITH THAT OF AIR-ENTRAINING AGENTS WITH REGARD TO FROST RESISTANCE. THE ROLE OF PLASTICIZERS IN FACILITATING LAYING, INCREASING WORKABILITY AND GIVING A HIGH QUALITY SURFACING IS DISCUSSED. /LCPC/RRL/A/
