EFFECT OF THAWING SALTS ON BITUMINOUS SLURRIES USED TO SEAL BITUMINOUS MIXTURE SURFACINGS /IN GERMAN/

THE SATURATION SLURRY CONSISTS MAINLY OF CALCIUM CARBONATE AND CONTAINS ONLY SLIGHT QUANTITIES OF CALCIUM HYDROXIDE SO THAT AN ATTACK BY MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE CAUSING MAGNESIUM CORROSION IS NOT POSSIBLE AS IT WOULD BE FOR CEMENT-BOUND MATERIALS. VARIOUS METHODS OF TESTS WERE USED TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF THAWING SALTS ON BITUMINOUS SLURRY ACCORDING TO VARIOUS METHODS, BUT NO MORE DEFECTS WERE DISCOVERED THAN WITH WATER STRESSING. THE RESULTS OF STRENGTH TESTS SHOW THAT THE THAWING SALTS DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE HARMFUL EFFECTS THAN WATER. /FG/RRL/
