Noeud important pour les itineraires europeens, Liege ne disposait pas d'une continuite autoroutiere nord-sud et donc subissait sur ses voies urbaines le flux important des migrations saisonnieres europeennes. Pour remedier a cette situation, la liaison E40-E25 fut ouverte en juin 2000. Mise en place du systeme de gestion du trafic.
