FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS AND APPLICATION OF THE IMMERSION- COMPRESSION TEST

THIS REPORT COVERS THE MORE RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE PROCEDURE FOR CONDUCTING THE IMMERSION-COMPRESSION TEST AND GIVES ADDITIONAL RESULTS OF ITS APPLICATION TO STUDIES OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE RESISTANCE OF BITUMINOUS PAVING MIXTURE TO THE ACTION OF MOISTURE. INCLUDED IN THIS STUDY WERE A NUMBER OF FILLER MATERIALS SUCH AS FLY ASH, LIMESTONE DUST AND TWO TYPES OF SILICA DUST. THE COMPARATIVELY HIGH RESISTANCE OF THE MIXTURES, CONTAINING FLY ASH AND THOSE CONTAINING LIMESTONE DUST, TO THE ACTION OF MOISTURE INDICATES THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FILLER MATERIAL IN THE DESIGN OF BITUMINOUS PAVEMENTS. /AUTHOR/
