THREE SETS OF CONTROLS GIVE VERNON ASPHALT MATERIALS CO. FINGERTIP PRODUCTION IN HOT PLANT OPERATION

THE NEW STANDARD STEEL ASPHALT PLANT OWNED BY VERNON ASPHALT MATERIALS CO. IS DESCRIBED. BASICALLY IT IS AN 8000 LB. FULLY-AUTOMATED ASPHALT PLANT. THREE SETS OF AUTOMATIC CONTROLS HAVE BEEN ARRANGED TO PROVIDE THE MOST CONVENIENCE FOR THE OPERATOR. CONTROL OF THE VARIOUS MIXES IS ACHIEVED ON THE CONSOLE-PROGRAMMER IN THE CONTROL BUILDING. FROM SIX DIFFERENT PRESET MIXES A SPECIFIC MIX CAN BE SELECTED BY MERELY FLICKING A DIAL. AUTOMATION HAS ALSO BEEN CARRIED OUT IN THE DELIVERY OF AGGREGATES TO THE DRIER AND STORAGE BINS. LESS THAN EIGHTEEN SECONDS ARE REQUIRED FOR THE TOTAL WEIGHING AND BATCHING CYCLE. THE WET MIXING CYCLE IS CONTROLLED TO MEET THE SPECIFICATION OF THE AGENCY ORDERING THE ASPHALT. THE PLANT IS COMPLETELY AUTOMATED FROM MATERIAL DELIVERY TO THE PRINTING OF THE DEVLIERY TICKET.
