PROSPECTS FOR THE USE OF NATURAL ASPHALT, ESPECIALLY IN ROAD ENGINEERING /IN FRENCH/

THE POSSIBLE USES OF NATURAL ASPHALT IN FRANCE AND ABROAD ARE DISCUSSED. IT MAY BE USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF VARIOUS TYPES OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE, INCLUDING GUSSASPHALT, BY MIXING ASPHALT DUST WITH FAT LIME FOR HIGHWAY AND MOTORWAY SURFACINGS WHICH ARE PARTICULARLY IMPERVIOUS TO INFILTRATION AND STRIPPING ACTION OF WATER, AND WHICH ARE FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND CONSIDERABLE DEFLECTIONS. ALSO, IT MAY BE USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF MASTIC ASPHALT FOR SURFACINGS MADE FROM CAST NATURAL ROCK ASPHALT MIXED WITH GRIT, WHICH ARE TYPED FOR URBAN ROADS AND FOOTWAYS. /LCPC/RRL/
