THE DEFORMATIONS OF CONCRETE FROM THE MEASUREMENT OF SIX COMPONENTS

THE AUTHOR REVIEWS OPINIONS AND CONCEPTS ON THE DEFORMABILITY OF CONCRETE IN THE LIGHT OF EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS. THE STUDY IS CONCERNED ONLY WITH INSTANTANEOUS DEFORMATIONS CAUSED BY SHORT-TERM STATIC LOADING THE INTENSITY OF WHICH DOES NOT EXCEED ONE-THIRD OF THE ULTIMATE LOAD. A DETAILED ANALYSIS IS PRESENTED OF INVESTIGATIONS CARRIED OUT UP TO THE PRESENT TIME INTO INTERNAL DEFORMATIONS OF CONCRETE ELEMENTS. A NEW MEASUREMENT METHOD IS PRESENTED AND RESULTS ARE DISCUSSED OF THE MEASUREMENT OF THE SIX COMPONENTS OF THE DEFORMATION TENSOR. THESE RESULTS SHOULD LEAD TO A MORE GENERAL AND MORE PRECISE TREATMENT OF THE DEFORMABILITY OF REAL MEDIA IN LATER RESEARCH INVESTIGATIONS AND IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS. THIS MEASUREMENT METHOD CAN BE APPLIED TO THE CONTROL OF THE DEFORMABILITY OF CONSTRUCTION AND STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS. /IRRD-IRF/
