ABSORPTION OF SODIUM LIGNOSULFONATES BY SODIUM MONTMORILLONITE FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

LIGNOSULFONATE IS A BY-PRODUCT OF SULFITE LIQUOR FROM THE PAPER-MAKING PROCESS AND FINDS DIVERSE APPLICATIONS SUCH AS IN CONCRETE, AGRICULTURE, ADHESIVES, CERAMICS, GYPSUM PLASTER, DYESTUFFS AND TANNING. IN THIS PAPER AN EXAMINATION HAS BEEN MADE OF THE EFFECTS OF PH AND ADDITIONS OF SODIUM CHLORIDE ON THE ABSORPTIVE BEHAVIOUR OF SODIUM LIGNOSULFONATE ON A MONTMORILLONITE CLAY. THE RESULTS ARE OF GREAT PERTINENCE TO CEMENT-WATER-LIGNOSULFONATE SYSTEMS.
