PROPOSALS CONCERNING THE TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE MANUFACTURE OF ACTIVATED FILLERS CONTAINING LIMESTONE AND CLAYEY DOLOMITE FOR CLAYEY CONCRETE

THE SOVIET SPECIFICATION GOST 9128-67 FOR HOT- AND WARM-COATED BITUMINOUS MIXTURES FOR HIGHWAY AND RUNWAYS PRESCRIBES THE USE OF LIMESTONE AND DOLOMITE FILLERS WITH A CLAY CONTENT NOT EXCEEDING 5 PERCENT FOR ASPHALTIC CONCRETE. INVESTIGATIONS CARRIED OUT AT THE SOYUZDORNII SHOW THAT THE USE OF THE PHYSICO-CHEMICAL ACTIVATION METHOD AND THE RIGHT SELECTION OF ACTIVATING PRODUCTS ENABLE THE PROPERTIES OF CLAYEY LIMESTONE FILLERS CONTAINING UP TO 20 PERCENT CLAY TO BE MODIFIED SO THAT THEY CAN BE USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE WITH THE REQUIRED RESISTANCE TO WATER AND FROST. THE MOST EFFECTIVE ACTIVATING AGENTS FOR THESE FILLERS ARE RESINS, LOW-TEMPERATURE COAL AND BROWN COAL TARS, SHALE TARS, AND LIQUID SILICONE GKZ-94. SPECIFICATIONS ARE INCLUDED FOR MINERAL RAW MATERIALS TO BE USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF FILLERS TOGETHER WITH A LIST OF ACTIVATING PRODUCTS. /LCPC-RRL/
