A THEORY OF BOND APPLIED TO OVERLAPPED TENSILE REINFORCEMENT SPLICES FOR DEFORMED BARS

THE INVESTIGATIONS RELATING TO BOND BETWEEN CONCRETE AND DEFORMED REINFORCEMENT WHICH HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT SO FAR DEAL WITH ISOLATED PROBLEMS, AND NO SERIOUS ENDEAVOUR HAS BEEN MADE TO COMBINE THE OBSERVATIONS MADE INTO A GENERAL THEORY OF BOND VALID FOR ALL STAGES OF LOADING RIGHT UP TO FAILURE. THIS INVESTIGATION PROPOSES A METHOD OF DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM OF BOND IN OVERLAP SPLICES. THE PROCEDURE MAY HOEVER BE EASILY EXTENDED SO AS TO APPLY ALL KINDS OF ANCHORAGES FOR DEFORMED BARS. /AUTHOR/
