CONCRETE FOOTBRIDGES

IN THE DESIGN OF FOOTBRIDGES, GREATER EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE LAYOUT OF THE STRUCTURE RATHER THAN THE STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS. THE GROUPING AND PROPORTIONING OF ACCESS RAMPS, LANDINGS, AND THEIR SUPPORT STRUCTURES IS A MAJOR DESIGN CONSIDERATION. SINCE FOOTBRIDGE SITES VARY GREATLY, AND DESIGNS TEND TO REFLECT THE PARTICULAR DEMANDS OF THE SITE, FOOTBRIDGES TEND TO BE LESS STANDARIZED THAN VEHICLE BRIDGES. THE 26 FOOTBRIDGES IN THIS PUBLICATION ILLUSTRATE SOME OF THE POSSIBLE DESIGNS.
