THE BEHAVIOR AND DESIGN OF REINFORCED CONCRETE CORBELS

THIS REPORT REVIEWS THE AVAILABLE TEST DATA ON CORBELS TO DETERMINE THE MAJOR PARAMETERS THAT INFLUENCE BEHAVIOR. PREVIOUS DESIGN METHODS, EVOLVED SEPARATELY IN GERMANY AND AMERICA, ARE EVALUATED AND COMPARED. A DESIGN APPROACH IS DEVELOPED WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH THAT IN THE DRAFT UNIFIED CODE OF PRACTICE AND WHICH IS CAPABLE OF SHEAR SPAN TO EFFECTIVE DEPTHS GREATER THAN 1.0. /AUTHOR/
