STRUCTURAL BEHAVIOR OF A TWO SPAN REINFORCED CONCRETE BOX GIRDER BRIDGE MODEL-REDUCTION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS

A DETAILED PRESENTATION OF THE REDUCTION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF THE EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL RESULTS OBTAINED IN TESTING A LARGE SCALE TWO SPAN, FOUR CELL, REINFORCED CONCRETE BOX GIRDER BRIDGE MODEL IS GIVEN. THE VARIOUS COMPUTER PROGRAMS USED IN OBTAINING THEORETICAL RESULTS ARE DESCRIBED AND COMPARED. THE METHODS AND COMPUTER PROGRAMS USED FOR REDUCTION OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA ARE ALSO PRESENTED. RESULTS, IN TERMS OF REACTIONS, DEFLECTIONS, STRAINS AND MOMENTS, FOR THE RESPONSE OF THE BRIDGE TO DEAD LOAD, WORKING STRESS LOADS AND AT OVER LOAD STRESS LEVELS ARE GIVEN AND COMPARISONS BETWEEN EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL VALUES ARE MADE. A REVIEW OF THE BEHAVIOR UNDER SUSTAINED DEAD LOAD DURING THE LOAD HISTORY OF THE MODEL IS GIVEN WITH RESPECT TO STRAINS, DEFLECTIONS AND CRACKING. THE LOADING TO FAILURE, AND OBSERVATIONS OF STRUCTURAL BEHAVIOR DURING THIS FINAL PHASE ARE CONSIDERED IN DETAIL. /AUTHOR/
