TRAVERSE NETWORK ADJUSTMENT APPLICATION IN WISCONSIN

THE WISCONSIN DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS HAS USED THE TRAVERSE NETWORK ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM (AVAILABLE FROM THE NATIONAL OCEAN SURVEY) FOR PRODUCTION PURPOSES FOR 18 MONTHS, PRINCIPALLY FOR AERIAL MAPPING PROJECTS AND THE EXTENSION OF THE WISCONSIN COORDINATE SYSTEM. THIS PROGRAM COMPUTES GRID COORDINATES FOR EACH STATION OF A TRAVERSE NETWORK. THE PROGRAM HAS THE CAPABILITY OF ADJUSTING NETWORKS WITH AS MANY AS 250 STATION, 600 OBSERVED DIRECTIONS, 250 MEASURED DISTANCES, AND 99 CONDITION EQUATIONS. CORRECTIONS ARE APPLIED FOR THE REDUCTION OF OBSERVED DATA TO GRID DATA AND SEVERAL OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF AZIMUTH AND POSITION CONTROL. /AUTHOR/
