THE NAVIGATOR, SHIP HANDLING IN ROUGH WEATHER AND HULL SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS

Systems intended to improve ship handling in rough weather, their instrumentation, and the navigator's working situation in relation to safety at sea are discussed. The information provided, how it should be presented, and system operation characteristics are dealt with in some detail. Man-machine communication is discussed. A proposed system configuration is presented where due regard has been given to feedback from navigators who have tried out hull surveillance systems in practice. Order from NSFI as No. 17213.
