THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS ON THE ERGONOMIC DESIGN OF SHIPS' BRIDGES

The work described was carried out as part of the "ship's bridge and wheelhouse ergonomics design study" for the United Kingdom Department of Industry. It included an investigation into certain areas of human functioning often disregarded in ergonomics studies, for instance motivation, attitudes to work, and interpersonal interaction.
