ALIGNMENT MEASUREMENTS ON LARGE STRUCTURES

SMALL MOVEMENTS IN LARGE STRUCTURES SUCH AS DAMS OR BRIDGES MAY BE MEASURED THROUGH PERIODIC CHECKS OF ALIGNMENT. ALIGNMENT MEASUREMENTS MADE BY TRILATERATION AND BY MEANS OF A SIMPLE LASER ALIGNMENT DEVICE ARE DESCRIBED. RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH THOSE OBTAINED FROM A THEODOLITE. ACCURACIES OF BETTER THAN ONE ARC SECOND ARE OBTAINED. /AUTHOR/
