COMPUTER SIMULATION OF AUTOMATIC STEREOPLOTTERS

THE PERFORMANCE OF AN AUTOMATIC STEREOPLOTTER DEPENDS ON PHOTOGRAPH AND STEREOPLOTTER CHARACTERISTICS, AND THE COMPLEX INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THESE CHARACTERISTICS. TO EXPLORE AND EXPLOIT THE INSTRUMENT POTENTIAL, IT IS USEFUL TO EMPLOY MATHEMATICAL SIMULATION. A COMPUTER SIMULATION HAS THUS BEEN PREPARED OF THE AS-11B AUTOMATED ANALYTICAL STEREOPLOTTER. THE STATIC AND DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF EACH SUBSYSTEM AND THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INPUT PHOTOGRAPHY ARE REPRESENTED MATHEMATICALLY. THE INDIVIDUAL SUBSYSTEM MODELS ARE INTERCONNECTED TO SIMULATE OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM. THIS SIMULATION CAN BE USED TO DETERMINE THE PERFORMANCE BOUNDARIES OF THE SYSTEM, TO ESTABLISH ITS APPLICABILITY TO SPECIFIC CHARTING ASSIGNMENTS, AND TO EVALUATE POTENTIAL DESIGN IMPROVEMENTS. /AUTHOR/
