FUNCTION AND TECHNIQUES OF THE PHOTOGRAMMETRY SECTION, TEXAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT

A SEPARATE SECTION WAS CREATED WITHIN THE HIGHWAY DESIGN DIVISION, TEXAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, SINCE THE VALUE OF PHOTOGRAMMETRY WAS RECOGNIZED AS A TOOL IN THE LOCATION, FOR DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND MAINTENANCE OF HIGHWAY FACILITIES. AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHIC FIRMS ON A PROPOSAL BASIS UNDER A SET OF STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS PROVIDE AERIAL FILM NEGATIVES. THE PHOTOGRAMMETRY SECTION EMPLOYS 3 KELSH STEREOPLOTTERS IN THE MAP COMPILATION PROCESS. ALL PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSING, OTHER THAN THE AERIAL FILM NEGATIVES AND 2 SETS OF CONTRACT PRINTS FURNISHED BY THE CONTRACTOR, ARE ACCOMPLISHED IN THE STATE'S REPRODUCTION SECTION. A PROCEDURE IS DESCRIBED WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED IN OBTAINING DETAILED RIGHT-OF-WAY INFORMATION FROM MAPS COMPILED PHOTOGRAMMETRICALLY.
