ANALOGUE-ANALYTICAL MAPPING SYSTEMS

VARIOUS TYPES OF ANALOGUE-ANALYTICAL STEREOPLOTTING EQUIPMENT HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED OVER THE YEARS, EACH HAVING ITS OWN PARTICULAR INPUT REQUIREMENTS, DATA REDUCTION CHARACTERISTICS, AND END-PRODUCT RESULTS. A NEED EXISTS TODAY FOR GREATER FLEXIBILITY AND PERFORMANCE TO ACHIEVE IMPROVED COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN THE VARIOUS EQUIPMENT THAT WILL PERMIT ENHANCED EXPLOITATION OF AVAILABLE RESOURCES. MEANS OF ACHIEVING THIS GOAL ARE ADVANCED IN A TOTAL OPERATIONAL MAPPING SYSTEM (ATOMS) CONCEPT. ATTENTION IS DIRECTED TOWARD INTEGRATING THE PROCESSING OF HETEROGENEOUS ACQUISITION MATERIALS THROUGH A MORE EFFECTIVE USE OF PRESENT INSTRUMENT-COMPUTER COMBINATIONS. /ASP/
