Linking Macro-level Dynamic Network Loading Models with Scheduling of Individual's Daily Activity- Travel Pattern
This chapter reports an integrated model for scheduling the activities an individual is supposed to do in a given day with the representation of road network congestion effects. A generic mathematical illustration of the model is presented for a simplified version of the home-work tour. The chapter found out that when the marginal utility of an activity is considered as a function of clock-time only, the model detached the morning and evening commute, i.e., the effects of any change in the morning commute are not transferred to the evening commute. The proposed model is behaving well and yielding predictions as per expectation, as the model allows the dispersion of peak when dynamic tolls are introduced. The numerical tests also suggested that care should be taken over the choice of the dynamic loading model on the supply side as this would potentially effect the overall results obtained from the model because of their inherited properties.
